@brhenry You have reached for a very strained reading of the SSPX response. Something along the order of what we would expect from bomb throwers. A common sense reading (which is clearly what was intended) would be "Don't act impulsively." The SSPX has never given even the slightest hint that they have ever been looking for a "compromise."
"Kicking the can down the road" has been the problem from the beginning with all disciplinary issues in the Church, including the 1962 Missal sectarian problem. Essentially, the SSPX wants the Vatican to take a modernist "inclusive, all are welcome" approach. Hopefully the Holy Father demands repentance and full reconciliation for years of schism.

Unter dem Motto #nurmut feierten zahlreiche Meschen einen Gottesdienst, der Mut machte, berührte und Gemeinschaft erfahrbar werden ließ. Menschen aus der LGBTQIA+-Community, Freund:innen, Familienangehörige und viele Allies (Personen, die selbst nicht queer sind, aber sich sichtbar und aktiv für die Rechte, Sicherheit und Würde von queeren Personen einsetzen) kamen zusammen, um gemeinsam zu beten, zu singen und ein Zeichen für eine Kirche zu setzen, in der Vielfalt ihren Platz hat. Die Predigt hielt Pfarrer Samuel Ebner. Ausgehend von der Geschichte des Bartimäus sprach er über den Mut, die eigene Stimme zu erheben, auch dann, wenn andere zum Schweigen auffordern.
