Cardinal Koch: The FSSPX's View of Papacy Is Contradiction

Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, says the illicit episcopal consecrations by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX) should not be seen as the end of dialogue with Rome. Key quotes from the Communio podcast published by Herder on 2 July..
On Excommunication and Future Dialogue
- An excommunication is a medicinal penalty. It is not intended to be definitive; rather, it is meant to invite repentance so that one may find the way back.
- I hope it will be possible in the future to resume new talks, so that they may find their way back into the Catholic Church.
- At the moment I do not see that happening, but it would also be far too early.
No Recognition of Popes Since Vatican II
- This amounts to a form of self-authorisation for carrying out episcopal consecrations.
- …a self-contradiction: on the one hand, they invoke the authority of the Pope in the most beautiful terms, yet on the decisive issues they go their own way.
- To me, this gives …Dugang pa

WHY DID GOD CLOSE THE DOOR OF THE ARK HIMSELF?
One of the shortest verses in the story of Noah may also be one of the most profound.
After Noah, his family, and the animals entered the Ark, Scripture simply says:
"Then the Lord shut him in." (Genesis 7:16)
Notice carefully.
Noah did not close the door.
His sons did not close it.
An angel did not close it.
God Himself closed the door.
Why?
Surely Noah could have done that himself.
Why would the Bible deliberately tell us that God shut the door?
The answer reveals a breathtaking mystery about salvation, the Church, and even the end of time.
1. GOD CLOSED THE DOOR BECAUSE SALVATION BELONGS TO HIM
Imagine if Noah had closed the door.
People might have accused him:
"You left us outside."
"You condemned us."
"You decided who should live and who should die."
But Noah did not make that decision.
God did.
The message is clear:
Salvation is never a human invention.
It is always God's work.
Noah built the Ark.
But only God determined when the time …Dugang pa

Cardinal Pizzaballa: "Gaza Is A Disaster. The Smell. The Rats."

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa visited Gaza on June 22-23 and recalled the situation on June 29 in Bergamo, Italy, when he received a Prize from the Italian geopolitical magazine Limes. Key phrases as reported by VaticanNews.va.
- "Gaza is a disaster. The cities have been razed to the ground, leveled, wiped out. Rafah no longer exists."
- "What strikes me most is traveling along makeshift roads, through tents and sewage. This is where the people of Gaza live."
- "One thing the images do not convey is the smell. "One of the greatest scourges right now is the rats, which bite. They bite children above all, and Gaza is full of children—you see them everywhere, but instead of going to school, they play, dirty, beside the sewers.”.
- "Dual-use goods are not allowed in. And by dual-use they even mean school desks, pencils, notebooks, and the glass needed for windows. We want to reopen the schools, but we are missing almost everything."
- "Healthcare workers have told me that what is needed …Dugang pa

Bishop Crowned As "Protector of the Buddha's Teaching"

On June 13, Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, Apostolic Vicar of Phnom Penh, accepted the title Akka Mahā Upāsaka Buddha Sāsanūpatthambhakr ("Elder Great Lay Supporter and Upholder of the Buddha's Dispensation") at the temple Wat Botum Vatey in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The title was conferred by Supreme Patriarch Nun Nget of Cambodia's Mohanikaya Buddhist order. It recognized more than twenty years of cooperation with Buddhist institutions, educational work, and social projects.
Bishop Schmitthaeusler stated at the ceremony: "When religions journey together, the world will witness true peace."
Already in 2022, Bishop Schmitthaeusler had received the title "Maha Upasaka" ("Great Lay Benefactor") from Cambodia's Buddhist authorities.
Several days after the June 2026 ceremony, Cambodia's King awarded Bishop Schmitthaeusler the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Cambodia.

How can you argue with Vatican II? It says that "Buddhism teaches a path by which men, in a devout and confident spirit, can either reach a state of absolute freedom or attain supreme enlightenment by their own efforts or by higher assistance." But the Council neglected to tell us that this path of Buddhism avails nothing as far as salvation is concerned. Oops!

The Episcopal church is selling its NYC headquarters. "Mainline Protestantism had always been dominant in America and robustly assumed it always would remain so, with or without any effort. It choked on its own over confidence. But in recent years the Mainline denominations have been joined by declining evangelical denominations." Soon Protestantism will wither away.

Episcopal Church Withdrawal?

The Episcopal Church is selling or leasing its legendary headquarters building in New York city, from whose perch its Presiding Bishops long ruled and resided in a penthouse apartment overlooking the Manhattan skyline. One former presiding bishop reputedly decorated the penthouse all in white, which allegedly matched her chilly personality, provoking snarly critics to deride her as the “white witch.” This sale could be seen as a metaphor for the collapse of liberal Protestantism, if any more metaphors are needed. More widely, it illustrates the collapse of institutional religion in America, liberal or not. Mainline Protestant denominations have been pulling their headquarters and agencies from New York for decades. The United Church of Christ quit New York in 1990 for a new headquarters building in Cleveland, which it sold in 2022 for smaller rental space a mile away. The Presbyterian Church (USA) headquarters quit New York in 1988 for Louisville, Kentucky. United Methodism’s largest …

The Archdiocese of Florence launched a housing project for young adults who identify as LGBT that is funded through Italy’s tax allocation to the Catholic Church.

Florence Archdiocese Funds LGBTQ+ House

Worse than Germany: The Caritas of the Archdiocese of Florence has launched Project Andrea, under which the Archdiocese will work hand in hand with the group Arcigay. The latter is Italy's leading homosexual advocacy organization.
IlGiornale.it reported on June 23 that the flagship initiative of the project is Casa Andrea, a facility open to homosexual young people.
The house will offer "personalized support and protected accommodation for young men and women in [gender] transition between the ages of 18 and 35."
The entire project is funded by the Church through the Italian tax allocation 8×1000 (eight per thousand).
"We are very proud to have opened Casa Andrea and the services connected to it," said Marzio Mori, director of Caritas Florence.
This is only the latest sign of the Florentine archdiocese's closeness to homosexuals, especially since Archbishop Gherardo Gambelli took office in June 2024.

Gänswein: FSSPX "More Hardline Than Ever"; Leo XIV Should Ease Latin Mass Restrictions

On 2 July, Archbishop Georg Gänswein, the Nuncio to the Baltic States, spoke to Corriere.it about the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X and the Mass in the Roman rite. Key quotes, slightly shortened
- The FSSPX has become even more hardline. It's unbelievable - truly sad.
- Their understanding of tradition is not tradition. They freeze Catholic tradition at Pius XII. After that, they see nothing but errors.
- Benedict XVI lifted the excommunications of the four bishops as a father seeking peace. It was an outstretched hand they refused. The radical faction prevailed—they rejected reconciliation then and still do.
- They are like the Protestants of five centuries ago. Cardinal Müller is right.
- I am very disappointed. Grace can do anything over time, but for now I see even greater distance and deeper hardening than before.

From the Archives: In a homily delivered by Víctor "Tucho" Fernández, then Archbishop of La Plata, on 5 March 2023 at the Cathedral of La Plata, Argentina, he said: "You know that, for many centuries, the Church went in another direction. Without realizing it, it developed an entire philosophical and moral framework full of classifications—to categorize people, to label them. This one is like this, that one is like that. This one can receive Communion; that one cannot. This one can be forgiven; that one cannot. It is terrible that this happened to us in the Church. Thank God Pope Francis is helping us free ourselves from those rigid patterns of thinking."

WHO Director Tedros Attacks Bishop Schneider: WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus responded on X.com after an older video of Bishop Athanasius Schneider resurfaced online. In the video, Bishop Schneider describes mass immigration into Europe as an invasion aimed at islamising the continent and argues it threatens Europe's Christian heritage. Tedros said calling immigrants "invaders" dehumanises them and argued many are families fleeing war, hunger, and hardship. He added that migration should be managed with order and fairness but distinguished that from "demonising" immigrants.

FSSPX Responds: Excommunications "Unjust and Invalid"

Today, Don Davide Pagliarani, Superior of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX), responded to the 2 July decree of excommunication. It "once again highlights the deeply tragic situation facing the universal Church."
He claims that the FSSPX's actions are motivated solely by the desire to save souls and insists that the Fraternity does not seek to replace the Church, but to remain faithful to her.
Using the biblical imagery of asking for bread, fish, and an egg (cf. Luke 11:11–13), he says the Fraternity's requests were met with rejection, symbolised by receiving a stone, serpent, and scorpion.
According to Pagliarani, the FSSPX had asked to be instructed and confirmed in "the faith of all time", yet was instead declared schismatic for a second time.
His central statement is this: "The FSSPX promises You today that it will not receive these new sanctions - objectively unjust and invalid - with bitterness or revolt."
Don Pagliarani concludes by expressing confidence that one …Dugang pa

Leo XIV Accepts an American Establishment Award

While previous popes usually avoided accepting secular awards, Leo XIV today received the 2026 Liberty Medal from the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
The Centre said it was honouring the Pope for his support of religious liberty, freedom of conscience and human dignity — all of which are ideological frameworks that are not specifically Catholic.
The National Constitution Center describes itself as a nonpartisan institution dedicated to constitutional education. In practice, it is a prominent institution within the U.S. civic establishment, regularly hosting former presidents, senior government officials, judges, military leaders, and foreign-policy figures.
In a video address from the Vatican, Leo XIV praised the United States for having “opened its own doors to successive waves of immigrants, enabling them and their children to contribute to shaping the nation's future.”

In morality this is all wrong. Like in drug-dealer environments, most people are lured into the environment by compromising them little by little.
So if you are on a high seat like the pope, then the people who surround you will try to compromise you. They will have the man say yes to a small gesture first, a gesture that saying no to would be seen as rude.
While the gestures become every time a little more compromising the man becomes compromised and can't retract.
And diplomats are strange folk, I will try to explain. I worked in a UN setting back in 1996, but I was not a diplomat. ‘Of the imperfection of those who love GOD for their own profit…’ ~ 'The Dialogue' of Saint Catherine of Siena; 1907; A TREATISE OF DISCRETION; pp. 142-144, part I

Of the imperfection of those who love GOD for their own profit, delight, and consolation.
"Some there are who have become faithful servants, serving Me with fidelity without servile fear of punishment, but rather with love.
This very love, however, if they serve Me with a view to their own profit, or the delight and pleasure which they find in Me, is imperfect. Dost thou know what proves the imperfection of this love ? The withdrawal of the consolations which they found in Me, and the insufficiency and short duration of their love for their neighbour, which grows weak by degrees, and ofttimes disappears. Towards Me their love grows weak when, on occasion, in order to exercise them in virtue and raise them above their imperfection, I withdraw from their minds My consolation and allow them to fall …Dugang pa

The recent excommunications of even the faithful who “formally adhere” to the SSPX are cruel and unnecessary — of course — but they are also a perfect reflection of what Rome actually believes. In other words, this is not the result of the simple failings of human nature to which we are all subject: this is the plan for the Synodal Church, which is designed to exclude those who insist on adhering to the immutable Catholic Faith. Thanks be to God for this clarifying moment afforded by the unjust punishments!
This fundamental reality of Rome’s opposition to the immutable Catholic Faith is now more evident than ever to the entire world, but it has been clear to the SSPX for decades. In this light, the SSPX’s “Apostolic Mandate” for the episcopal consecrations appears not only appropriate but entirely necessary:
“It is the Catholic and Roman Church, always faithful to the holy traditions received from the Apostles, who, in entirely exceptional circumstances, demands that we provide for the …Dugang pa

Thanks Be to God: Why the SSPX Excommunications Bring New Clarity - The Remnant Newspaper

The headlines are about excommunications. Here's what those excommunications reveal. Robert Morrison argues that the Vatican's unprecedented treatment of the SSPX has unintentionally stripped away decades of ambiguity, exposing a Church that preaches "radical inclusion" while excluding those who refuse to abandon the immutable Catholic Faith. Far more than a reaction to episcopal consecrations, he contends, this is a defining moment of clarity for Catholics everywhere. “If we come to be declared excommunicated and schismatic, this would not mean that we seek such a sanction or rejoice in it, for it would be objectively unjust. It is one thing to rejoice in receiving a new humiliation to offer to God, and it is quite another to rejoice (in a spirit of defiance) in an evil and an objective injustice that causes scandal to the whole Church. Caritas non gaudet super iniquitatem — ‘charity rejoiceth not in iniquity.’” (Fr. Davide Pagliarani, March 7, 2026) Long before Cardinal Víctor Manuel …

Prayer for the Church and Civil Authorities

The Prayer for the Church and Civil Authorities is a traditional American Catholic devotion composed by Archbishop John Carroll in the late 18th century, which has become a central part of the liturgical patrimony of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP).
