Introduction: The Complexity of Life

Life is complicated. But God is simple. Our hearts long for this. The Holy Trinity is the simple, immense love that we were made for.

Introduction: The Complexity of Life

God so loved the world.
Life is complicated. Life is very complicated—even nature. I was just seeing a photo; they said they have advanced photos of a human cell that they weren’t able to make before, and it’s so complex. And that’s just one tiny cell, and we have so many of them in our body. Just one cell is so complex.
Biologists point out that when you touch one thing in nature, it affects other things in ways that we don’t always realize, because there’s so much complexity in nature.

Pagan ritual during Eucharist in Canadian cathedral.
On September 30, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Ottawa incorporated Indigenous ceremonial practices into a Eucharist. There was a purification or “smudging” rite at the beginning. Two Indigenous people approached the clergy in the sanctuary, including the bishop present, and fanned smoke from sacred plants (sweetgrass, cedar, sage and tobacco) toward them in a cleansing gesture. A four-directions prayer followed and the congregation turned to each direction before praying to “the Creator.” The Novus Ordo then continued. Feather rituals were also performed during the Prayers of the Faithful.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa incorporated an Indigenous purification ceremony, a four-directions prayer and other ceremonial practices into a Mass for Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30.

Bishop James Beckman of Knoxville, Tennessee, has revoked the faculties of Fr David Mary Engo who has associated himself with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX),
“He is not authorized to exercise public priestly ministry anywhere within the Diocese of Knoxville.”
David Mary Engo was ordained a priest in 1997 by then-Bishop Seán P. O’Malley of Fall River, the future Cardinal of Boston. His religious and community status has a somewhat complicated history.
He was incardinated into the Diocese of Fort Wayne–South Bend in 2010, while simultaneously being excardinated from the Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts.
Engo founded a Franciscan community in 2009, professed perpetual vows, and served as the community’s Minister General. In May 2017, he resigned as Minister General and withdrew to a hermitage.
By 2021, Engo was described by the Diocese of Knoxville’s newspaper as a Franciscan hermit living in the Diocese of Helena, Montana.
Engo subsequently ministered in the Diocese of …Bivule

A Front Line at the Border: How Russia Uses Migrants as Weapons Against Europe

The scheme is part of Russia’s larger strategy for sowing discord in the West, if more subtle than other recent operations blamed on the Kremlin.

It seemed a small act of vandalism.
A man was caught on a surveillance camera in August cutting through a border fence from Belarus into Latvia, where he bashed another such camera with a pole before fleeing back to where he had come from.
Yet his crime was also emblematic of a broader security threat emanating from Belarus and its close ally Russia, Latvian officials, including the foreign minister, Baiba Braže, said in interviews in Riga. The Russian and Belarusian intelligence services are facilitating an …Bivule

Portuguese missionary priest Fr. João Silveira is bringing the traditional Latin Mass to some of the world’s most unexpected places - even into seminaries.
Fr. Silveira travels the world to celebrate the Mass. He gave a glimpse into his travels during his address at the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh on October 4. He belongs to the Missionaries of the Holy Cross, based in Puma, Tanzania.
Belize
Fr Silveira’s most extensive mission was in Belize. At two Catholic schools, administrators asked him to celebrate the Latin Mass. At Bishop Martin’s College, approximately 350 students attended, roughly half of them Protestants.
At Muffles College High School, Silveira celebrated before some 750 students, again roughly half Catholic and half Protestant. Nearly 300 received Communion.
He also found a remote Catholic community that had begun meeting to pray the Rosary in Latin. Their coordinator had discovered the traditional Latin Mass on the internet and become interested in it. “This …Bivule

Bishop Donald Lippert, missionary Bishop of Mendi in Papua New Guinea, warns that the missionary crisis has now come home: “The West is missionary territory again.” And, more provocatively: “The Church is missionary territory again.”
Bishop warns the Church to substitute dialogue and social work for evangelization: “Presence without proclamation eventually becomes humanitarianism or NGOism.”

Missionary Bishop at the CIC 2026:
The West is missionary territory. More precise: The Church is missionary territory.

Bishop Mutsaerts: “Ecclesiastical appointments can be foolish.”
Dutch Auxiliary Bishop Rob Mutsaerts answered the uncomfortable question “How about Rome?” at the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh on October 3.
“Rome needs reform sometimes too,” he said.
“The Curia is not the Mystical Body of Christ, Vatican diplomacy is not divine revelation, and the dicastery is not protected by the charism of infallibility in every decision. Ecclesiastical appointments can be foolish and bishops can be cowardly and pastoral strategies can fail.”
And: “Catholic loyalty therefore does not require pretending that every decision made in Rome is wise.”
Turning to synodality, Mutsaerts invoked the collapse of Dutch Catholicism: “I’m Dutch and we started this nonsense in the ’60s already.”
His verdict: “Show me the fruits. There aren’t any.”

Dutch Auxiliary Bishop Rob Mutsaerts of ’s-Hertogenbosch: “The Curia is not the Mystical Body of Christ, Vatican diplomacy is not divine revelation, and the dicastery is not protected by the charism of infallibility in every decision.”

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10,38-42.
Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me."
The Lord said to her in reply, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her."

"It would serve the Pope very well if he laid out in just plain simple terms, yes or no: am I going to continue Pope Francis’s restrictive policies or am I going to return to what Pope Benedict and John Paul II before him did, and to give the reasons for it?", said New York priest Fr. Gerald Murray on October 2 about Leo XIV’s course on the traditional Latin Mass.
The canon lawyer was also commenting on a proposal by a Vatican synodal commission to completely revise Canon Law. Murray argues that governance is a gift given by Christ to the apostles and passed to the bishops. Regarding the extension of governance to the laity, he issues a warning: "We’re heading towards Episcopalianism, where lay people actually exercise a governing role in the Anglican Church."

Leo XIV should disclose - yes or no - if he is following Francis' way or not.

Son of a physician, Longo was born financially well off, and received a good education, both secular and Christian, and attended a Piarist school until age sixteen. Raised in a pious family; they prayed the Rosary together each night. An excellent student, Barolo was skilled in literature, oratory, fencing, dancing, music, and other arts, could play flute and piano, directed a school band; was also known to be restless, and had difficulty sitting through classes. Studied law at the University of Naples where received his degree in 1864, but where he fell into a dissolute and worldly life.
Following a philosophy class taught by a fallen-away priest, Longo moved from indifference to the Church to ridicule, to open hostility. He participated in street …Bivule

In the traditional Latin Mass, the sacrificial character is “very strongly visible,” Eduard Habsburg said at the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh on October 3. He spent 54 years in the Novus Ordo before discovering the Latin Mass, which “gives you space to sink into prayer and to contemplate and to meditate.”
He also contrasted the two forms of the Mass: In the Latin Mass, “the sacrifice is very strongly visible.” But “in today’s Mass it is present but not as much in the forefront as in the Latin Mass.”

Eduard Habsburg, former Hungary’s ambassador to the Holy See: “If you follow the Traditional Latin Mass every day, you will notice that the reality of sacrifice, dying for the sins of others, giving your blood for the others — just the sacrifice is very strongly visible.”

@Anthony November You speak in riddles.

Anthony November

Unfortunately, the credibility of this conference was undercut by the way it attempted to delete one of its featured speakers simply for criticizing the Novus Ordo.
The message this sends is troubling: you can have your traditional Catholic practices and traditions, so long as you ignore—or at least tolerate—the coexistence of an ever-evolving rite that, in important respects, contradicts what those traditions affirm.
At that point, Catholics are effectively being asked to treat their rite as nothing more than a hat they put on occasionally, rather than as an integral expression of their Catholic faith and identity.
