In the traditional Latin Mass, the sacrificial character is “very strongly visible,” Eduard Habsburg said at the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh on October 3. He spent 54 years in the Novus Ordo before discovering the Latin Mass, which “gives you space to sink into prayer and to contemplate and to meditate.” He also contrasted the two forms of the Mass: In the Latin Mass, “the sacrifice is very strongly visible.” But “in today’s Mass it is present but not as much in the forefront as in the Latin Mass.”

Unfortunately, the credibility of this conference was undercut by the way it attempted to delete one of its featured speakers simply for criticizing the Novus Ordo. The message this sends is troubling: you can have your traditional Catholic practices and traditions, so long as you ignore—or at least tolerate—the coexistence of an ever-evolving rite that, in important respects, contradicts what those traditions affirm. At that point, Catholics are effectively being asked to treat their rite as nothing more than a hat they put on occasionally, rather than as an integral expression of their Catholic faith and identity.

here is the dichotomy: What is the Catholic Mass, and what is it not? For 1,400 years, the Roman Rite was loved, revered, and protected by the Catholic Church. Leo XIV “largely continues the post-conciliar revolution,” Edward Pentin said October 3 at the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh. “Pope Leo… is very much a continuity figure, continuing the post-conciliar course mapped out by Pope Francis,” Pentin said. Archbishop Aldo Cavalli, 79, a former Apostolic Nuncio and the Apostolic Visitor for the parish of Medjugorje, administered Confirmation to two young Irish Travellers in the Adoration Chapel in Medjugorje, reports David Murgia on IlSegnoDiGiona. According to pictures, the women wore inappropriate short white pyjamas. Murgia says the outfits reflect festive dress customary in the Irish Traveller community. He claims to have verified the circumstances through multiple sources and that the photographs are authentic.

@Boanerges Boanerges You probably have never been in Medjugorje. The chapel is very recognizable as the "adoration chapel"; no doubt at all. The photo is authentic. If not, the parish of Medjugorje would have protested on their website and the publisher of the photo's would face a trial in court. MEDJUGORJE, ABITI PROVOCANTI DURANTE LE CRESIME? … Mgr. Cavalli is a "believer" of the synodal church and according to this "church" one should adept foreign cultural elements of other groups into the liturgy.... (in spite of the instruction of Vatican II that modesty in clothing is always required in church and this requirement was - until now - always observed in Medjugorje.
